We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially driven Senior Trader – Grains & Oilseeds (Physical) with Soft Commodities Derivatives expertise to join our trading team.
The role combines physical trading and derivatives trading, working closely alongside the Unit Head to develop and grow the grains & oilseeds business globally. The successful candidate will be responsible for originating, executing, and managing trading activities across key markets, with a strong focus on profitability, risk management, and strategic development.
Physical Trading & Origination
- Lead origination and trading activities across main origins and destinations within grains and oilseeds markets.
- Develop and expand supplier and customer networks across key regions.
- Execute global physical trading across cross-product flows, optimizing logistics, margins, and market positioning.
- Identify arbitrage opportunities across geographies and product chains.
Derivatives Trading
- Manage and execute derivatives trading strategies for the unit, including:
- Futures
- Options
- OTC instruments
- Cross-commodity arbitrage
- Apply both discretionary and quantitative trading approaches to generate alpha.
- Act as a key interface between physical and derivatives strategies, ensuring alignment of both books.
Market Analysis & Strategy
- Continuously monitor global agricultural markets, including supply/demand dynamics, weather, geopolitical factors, and macro trends.
- Develop and implement trading strategies across the full soft commodities spectrum.
- Identify new business opportunities, including new trade flows, counterparties, and structures.
Risk Management
- Manage trading exposure in line with defined risk limits and internal policies.
- Implement hedging strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns.
- Ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks and external regulatory requirements.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with:
- Trade operations
- Logistics and shipping
- Risk and finance teams
- Support the build-out of the soft commodities platform, contributing to strategy, structure, and team development.
- Provide mentorship to junior traders and analysts as the team grows.
