BGN has marked another milestone in the expansion of its global shipping operations with the naming of Lyla Pathfinder, a new dual-fuel LPG Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC) that will join the company’s growing LPG fleet following its delivery from Kawasaki Heavy Industries in Japan, on 9th August.

The naming ceremony which took place on 7th July, at the Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, was hosted by shipping partner NYK and attended by representatives from BGN and its maritime colleagues. BGN was represented by LPG Director, Takayuki Koike and LPG Traders, Masao Kawakami and Wendy Jungsuk Kwon.

Designed to operate on both LPG and conventional marine fuels, the Lyla Pathfinder also has the capability to transport ammonia, a next generation clean energy source that emits no CO2 on combustion and supports BGN’s continued investment in lower-emission shipping solutions.

The vessels name ‘Pathfinder’ reflects BGN’s commitment to working with its partners to create a future path towards sustainable shipping operations, while ‘Lyla’ – meaning night in Arabic – is a wish for the vessel to have a smooth and trouble-free voyage.

The addition of the Lyla Pathfinder reflects BGN’s continued investment in expanding its global LPG operations while contributing to decarbonisation of the global maritime industry,
